Senior Designer Carpets

BG Global is hiring for a leading carpet manufacturing and export company with a strong global presence. Our client is looking for an experienced and creative Senior Designer to lead the design function for premium handmade rug collections. This role will be instrumental in shaping the creative direction of both high-end Nepal ranges and global retail product lines, ensuring a balance between design innovation, market relevance, and production feasibility.

Responsibilities:

- Lead end-to-end design development for hand-knotted and Indo-Tibetan rug collections

- Define and drive the creative direction for premium Nepal range and international retail collections

- Develop innovative, market-relevant designs aligned with global trends and customer preferences

- Collaborate closely with production, sampling, and merchandising teams to ensure design accuracy and feasibility

- Oversee sampling processes and ensure design integrity is maintained during execution

- Research and stay updated on global trends in rugs, textiles, and interior design

- Mentor, guide, and develop junior designers to build a strong creative team

- Maintain design documentation, color palettes, and technical specifications

Requirements

- Lead end-to-end design development for handmade rug and carpet collections, with strong focus on Indo-Tibetan and hand-knotted categories

- Create innovative, market-relevant designs with a strong sense of color, texture, pattern, and overall aesthetics

- Translate creative concepts into production-ready designs with complete technical detailing (weaving techniques, yarns, materials, and textures)

- Ensure designs balance artistic vision with commercial viability across both high-end bespoke and volume-driven retail segments

- Collaborate closely with production, sampling, and merchandising teams to maintain design integrity and feasibility

- Stay updated on global design, interior, and rug trends to drive continuous innovation

- Work with international buyers and markets, aligning designs with customer preferences and regional trends

- Build and maintain a strong and diverse design portfolio across premium and retail product lines

- Mentor, guide, and lead junior designers, fostering creativity and team development

- Communicate design ideas effectively across cross-functional teams to ensure smooth execution

- Uphold a strong passion and commitment towards craftsmanship and handmade textile excellence
