Job Description

Educational Qualification: Bachelor’s/master’s degree in English education, Humanities, Science, Social Science, or an equivalent field.

Work Experience: Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in teaching and teacher training with a sound understanding of pedagogy, or three years of experience in an education-related project (preference will be given to those with experience in I/NGOs focused on Teacher Capacity Development).

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with local line agencies (Municipalities) for the implementation of Teacher Capacity Development.
  • Lead and facilitate training events for the Improvement of Learning Environment Project in consultation with the line manager and in coordination with the central office, following the Project Design Document (PDD), M&E Matrix, Detailed Implementation Plan (DIP), and Budget Plan using innovative, adaptive, and participatory approaches.
  • Design, develop, and deliver a wide range of training packages for community-level schoolteachers and key stakeholders based on the identified needs and gaps, in line with the Nepal Government’s existing packages.
  • Study, review, and monitor suggestions from concerned stakeholders (within and outside the organization) to maintain quality improvement in the conduction and management of teacher training and community engagement programs.
  • Support the timely update of the annual DIP and budget review, revising as necessary and justifying potential variations for pre-approval.
  • Ensure and review the DIP to deliver programmatic results as per the annual plan.
  • Conduct training needs assessments for teachers and stakeholders and amend training packages accordingly.
  • Motivate school management committees, PTAs, head teachers, teachers, and local government for their active participation in project planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation as required.
  • Regularly monitor and ensure the practice of child-friendly teaching and learning, gender and disability inclusion, child protection, and environmental responsibility across the ILE program and desired project outcomes.
  • Carry out in-school support activities as per the Detail Implementation Plan (DIP) and coordinate within the assigned Palikas.
  • Ensure all activities are implemented according to REED policy and guidelines, and that project activities are completed on time as defined in the DIP.
  • Receive community proposals and share them with the line manager along with suggested solutions.
  • Collaborate with the line manager to enhance the Integrated Curriculum, subject-based training, GESI, WASH, and remedial teaching initiatives for basic education.
  • Report the progress/issues of the project regularly and on time to the line manager.
  • Carry out other relevant tasks as requested by the line manager/central office.
  • Coordinate with the line manager and SMT team to conduct teacher-training programs.
  • Adhere to the Dos and Don'ts and relevant information received from funding partners or the central office and share them with team members and communities.
  • Support the preparation of the project procurement plan and submit it to the operations department.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Lead necessary arrangements (logistics, documentation, communication, and coordination) for the conduction and management of training.
  • Strong commitment to teamwork, promoting team building and feedback culture.
  • Data compilation, management, report preparation, and documentation skills.
  • Strong facilitation skills, including the ability to catalyze, connect, and build the capacity of multiple levels of stakeholders: teachers, school management committees, parent-teacher associations, and community groups.
  • Submit progress reports of training programs to the District Manager.
  • Lead event-based report writing and support proposal writing.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Willingness to travel and work in remote and mountainous regions.
  • Attend conferences and present research-based papers on behalf of REED Nepal.
  • Strong understanding of community-led development work.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership, coordination, presentation, and communication skills, including the ability and commitment to listen to others.
