Job Description

Position objectives:

A project officer shall lead the overall project with close coordination with the local government and partner organization.

Job Description:

The incumbent will be mainly focused on the following major duties and responsibilities: 

Planning and Implementation:

  • Prepare a plan for project operation in collaboration with donor organizations, local government, schools, child clubs and other stakeholders in the project area, and execute the project interventions in the best way.
  • Prepare periodic plans of action for education and child protection activities and execute them accordingly in the target areas.
  • Facilitate the formation of community groups like child clubs, parents’ groups and girls’ clubs and mobilize them for their empowerment and capacity strengthening.

Training and Development:

  • Conduct orientation, interaction and discussion for sensitizing communities on child rights, child protection and other educational issues as required.
  • Support on conducting the workshop and training for enhancing the capacity of teachers, child club members, parents and community stakeholders on educational as well as child protection issues; mostly on inclusive classroom pedagogy and practices, classroom management, school leadership, and child rights, child protection and child participation.
  • Enhance the capacity of community facilitators (CFs) for the effective implementation of the project.
  • Guide technically to ECED teachers and early grade schoolteachers for promotion of child-friendly classroom management in school.

MEAL:

  • Carry out the periodical assessment of the project in order to assess the gap in operational practices of project interventions.
  • Collect and compile training needs assessments of teachers, SMC/PTA members, and child club members and develop a plan to address the needs with the coordination concern department. 
  • Conduct field visits to observe, monitor, and evaluate the project interventions and utilization status and share with the supervisor.
  • Develop farm/format with the coordination supervisor and implement in the field. 
  • Review the physical and financial progress of project interventions
  • Assist in preparing reports as per the suggestion of the supervisor. 
  • Collect relevant information and prepare case stories, best practices, and lessons learned from the project and share them with the supervisor.

Collaboration and Coordination:

  • Extend coordination with concerned local government, schools, community networks (child club, child rights committee), and other like-minded organizations and civil society, and seek collaboration in the project.
  • Participate in the programs, meetings, and discussions held at the district/community level and share the learning and experiences.

Qualifications and required skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education or a relevant field.
  • At least 2 years of working experience in education and child protection.
  • Proven experience working in Bajura District.
  • Knowledge of current education and child protection policies and practices of the Government of Nepal. 
  • Should have expertise in data analysis, report writing, and training facilitation.
  • Should have team mobilization, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate in English, Nepali, and local languages.
  • Ability to work under strict deadlines.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email, and the Internet.
  • Tow-wheeler driving license
