SUMMARY:
Reporting to the PROGRAM OFFICER/ PROJECT OFFICER, SOCIAL MOBILIZER provides
operational and strategic support to Community Resilience programming at their
Palikas. The Social Mobilizer will be in charge of related portfolio of activities and
initiatives at the field level, with a particular focus on promotion of Community
Resilience, DRR, CCA and value chain interventions in the respective palika/municipality.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plan, implement and monitor the Strengthening Disaster Resilience and
Sustainable Livelihood of Urban Community in Nepal -2024 in conjunction
with other staff.
Organize capacity-building activities on DRM, Disaster Resilience and
Sustainable Livelihood of Urban Community, including training, provision of
appropriate IEC materials, and distribution of IEC materials and mentoring at
community/ward and palika level.
Work closely with other team members to ensure an integrated approach is
applied in addressing Urban DRR, facilitate the formation of CDMC, LDMC.
Coordinate community level authorities, to ensure community participation and
Preparedness practices are improved.
In collaboration with other members of the local stakeholders, conduct
assessments and baseline studies in order to identify DRR-related community
risks and priorities.
Use assessment data to design participatory interventions appropriate for the
local context and culture.
Provide periodic update reports (including data collects, minutes from meetings,
and key achievements for the month).
Contribute in developing work plans and program activities.
Implement DRR interventions for specific target groups e.g. CDMC, LDMC, Task
force, CAC group, children, women and men groups
Monitor and report against key indicators of the result.
With supervision, collect and report community level programme information
for sharing to coordination mechanisms as required.
Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Completion of school level education. Intermediate is preferred. Knowledge of Value
chain, DRM, CCA and Resilience with at least 4 years’ experience in community
mobilization. The position is typically field based but requires occasional travel to
Butwal and other cities.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Good understanding of the DRR, CCA, risks of community and of appropriate
ways of tackling them. Must be aware of and sensitive to the particular needs of
women in this context.
Flexibility and ease in working with local people have diplomacy, tact and
administrative skills in order to work with people at managerial level, and
occasionally government levels.
Effective member of team and role model; demonstrates creativity in seeking
better ways to do things and shares with team, and promotes high standards.
Capacity and desire to pass skills and information, confident communicator and
willingness to work in collaboration with others and respectful to the
community.
Takes responsibility for own work and delegated project/processes (including
some leadership).
Anticipates problems and regularly provides solutions.
Knowledge of area of work and ability to contribute to team planning.
Have good skills of facilitation and knowledge and techniques of motivation and
mobilization.
